Stresa, Isola Bella and island logistics
Lake Maggiore weddings centre on Stresa and the Borromean Islands — Isola Bella's baroque palace and gardens, Isola Madre, and lakefront grand hotels along the shore. Island venues mean boat-only access, so the technical plan starts with logistics, exactly as on Lake Como's Balbianello.
How we handle it:
- Compact, modular gear sized for boat transfer — point-source Funktion-One over bulky line array wherever the guest count allows
- Load-in and tear-down timed around boat crossings and the venue's access windows
- Full redundancy on board — spare mics, cables and a backup feed, because there is no quick return to the van mid-event
Ceremony and dinner by the water
Open-air ceremonies in the island gardens or on hotel terraces are fully exposed to lake air. We use cardioid and supercardioid wireless microphones for the celebrant and couple and distribute the sound so every guest hears the vows (70–78 dB SPL), with no single loud source.
For dinner we zone the audio across terraces and gardens — comfortable conversation everywhere (75–82 dB SPL), toasts on their own channel, levels ridden live as the evening settles over the water.
The party: international rig, tuned to the venue
For the celebration we bring the same circuit-standard setup we run on Lake Como — Pioneer CDJ-3000 / DJM booth, Funktion-One for refined indoor and mid-size spaces, L-Acoustics line array for larger lakefront stages, defined subs, plus immersive lighting and optional LED. Everything is tuned to the actual room and run by one on-site technician, ceremony to last dance.
Isola Bella, Isola Madre and the Borromean gardens: island acoustics
Lake Maggiore weddings centre on the Borromean Islands, and the setting is acoustically specific. Isola Bella's baroque palace is fronted by ten terraced garden levels rising from the water in a famous pyramid, while Isola Madre is an open botanical garden — both fully exposed to lake air, both spread across levels rather than a single flat space, and both reachable only by boat.
That shapes the plan:
- The terraced Borromean gardens climb steeply, so coverage has to be distributed level by level — one front source would leave the upper or lower terraces straining. Compact speakers per level hold an even 70–78 dB SPL for the vows.
- Open hotel terraces along the Stresa shore are road-accessible and flatter, allowing a more conventional zoned setup, but still face full water exposure.
- Full air exposure everywhere means supercardioid wireless for the ceremony is non-negotiable, exactly as on Lake Como's Balbianello.
The island logistics are the defining constraint: every speaker, console and light crosses by boat, so the rig is compact and modular — point-source Funktion-One over bulky line array wherever the guest count allows — with load-in timed around crossings and full redundancy carried on board. We treat this exactly as we treat Balbianello's crossing in our Lake Como wedding AV guide.
What does a typical 150-guest wedding AV setup look like on Lake Maggiore?
On Lake Maggiore the venue decides the rig: an island garden caps the scale by boat logistics, while a Stresa lakefront hotel can carry more.
- 100 guests — Pioneer CDJ-3000 / DJM-A9 booth with Funktion-One point-source sized to the terrace or garden. Ceremony on 2 cardioid/supercardioid wireless mics, distributed speakers per garden level at 70–78 dB SPL; dinner zoned across terraces at 75–82 dB SPL; dancefloor at 95–100 dB SPL.
- 150 guests — the same Pioneer booth with a larger Funktion-One array and a dedicated sub on an island, or a step up to L-Acoustics line array at a road-accessible lakefront hotel where load-in allows. A second wireless channel for toasts and distributed fill so every level matches.
- 200 guests — practical on the mainland hotels (full line array, multiple subs, stage monitors for a band, LED and immersive lighting); on the islands we'd map it carefully to the terraces with heavier distributed zoning, since the boat crossing and garden levels cap how big a single rig can go.

Frequently asked questions
- Do you cover the Borromean Islands despite boat-only access?
- Yes. We select compact, modular gear, time load-in and tear-down around the boat crossings and access windows, and carry full redundancy on board since there is no quick return mid-event.
- Can you handle ceremony, dinner and party as one supplier?
- Yes — one team, one point of contact, ceremony to last dance, with our own technician on-site all day.
- Are you based near Lake Maggiore?
- We are based minutes from both Lake Maggiore and Lake Como and the Milan area, so island and lakefront logistics are routine for us.
