One partner, ceremony to last dance

A Lake Como wedding has three acts — ceremony, dinner, party — and each one fails differently if the audio is wrong. We handle all three as a single setup, with one team and one point of contact.

What that means in practice:

  • Ceremony — discreet wireless microphones for the celebrant and the couple, with distributed audio so every guest hears every vow, whether it's a lakefront terrace or a chapel.
  • Aperitivo & dinner — zoned background sound across the garden, balanced so guests can talk comfortably while the music carries.
  • Party — a Pioneer DJ booth and a Funktion-One system tuned to the room, with optional LED wall and immersive lighting for a signature look.

The couple and the planner coordinate one supplier for the whole technical side — not three. Read how each venue changes the plan in our Villa del Balbianello and Villa Erba guides.

Ceremony audio on the water: wind, distance, the right microphones

On the lake there is always air movement off the water, even on a still July afternoon. That single fact decides the microphone choice. We use cardioid and supercardioid wireless mics — never bare omnidirectional lavaliers outdoors — because they reject wind and ambient noise that would otherwise wash out the vows.

Target sound-pressure levels we work to, tested across lakeside ceremonies:

  • Celebrant + couple, guest seating area → 70–78 dB SPL, fully intelligible to the back row
  • Outdoor ceremony in wind → Shure Beta 87A supercardioid for extra wind rejection
  • Readings / live instruments → dedicated channels, not shared with the speech mics

Distributed speakers along the aisle keep the level even from the front row to the back, instead of one loud source at the front that the rear guests strain to hear.

Dinner sound across a villa garden: zoning, not volume

The mistake at dinner is treating a villa garden like one big room. It isn't. A terrace, a lawn and a covered loggia each need their own balanced zone, or half the guests are shouting over music while the other half can't hear it at all.

We zone the audio so:

  • Conversation stays comfortable everywhere — typically 75–82 dB SPL at the tables
  • Speeches and toasts cut through cleanly, on their own microphone channel
  • The transition into the party is gradual, not a jarring jump in level

This is where an on-site technician earns their place: levels get ridden live as the evening moves from aperitivo to seated dinner to first dance.

The dancefloor: Pioneer + Funktion-One, tuned to the room

For the party we bring the gear of the international circuit and tune it to the actual venue — a marble ballroom and an open lakefront lawn behind the same villa behave completely differently.

Typical flagship setup:

  • DJ — Pioneer CDJ-3000 / DJM-A9 or V10 booth (the world standard; your DJ will know it)
  • Sound — Funktion-One point source for indoor and mid-size venues, L-Acoustics line array for large outdoor stages, with dedicated subs for a defined low end
  • Live band? — we integrate the band's needs (monitors, mics, DI) into the same rig, so there's no second supplier

Target on the dancefloor is 95–100 dB SPL at the centre — enough to feel it, not enough to empty the garden.

Lighting & LED: a signature look that respects the venue

Lighting is what turns a beautiful villa into *the couple's* villa for one night. We design it to enhance the architecture, never to fight it.

  • Immersive 360° LED and pixel-mapped tubes for the dancefloor and DJ booth
  • Indoor high-resolution LED walls (P2.6–P3.9 pitch) for visuals, monograms or video messages — calibrated for close viewing, not stadium brightness
  • Warm, controlled washes that keep the historic setting elegant rather than club-like during dinner

Everything is run from one desk by the same technician managing the audio, so the room moves as one.

One technician, all day — why drop-and-go rentals fail destination weddings

The single difference between a wedding that runs perfectly and one that goes quiet at the wrong moment is a dedicated technician on-site from guest arrival to the last dance.

A drop-and-go rental leaves the couple, the planner or the venue's staff to manage live audio they were never meant to touch. When a cable fails during the first dance or the celebrant's mic drops mid-vow, someone has to fix it in seconds — not "after the song".

Our technician handles delivery, setup, sound-check before guests arrive, live management of every zone, and tear-down afterwards. The planner and the couple touch nothing. For destination weddings, this is risk management, not a luxury.

Logistics on the lake — and how to start

Lake Como venues each have their own access reality: some are boat-only, many are protected historic sites with strict rules on rigging and load-in windows. We're based minutes from the lake and Milan, so we plan around villa access, boat transfers and timing as a matter of routine.

Booking window: for peak season (May–September), the earlier the better — most couples lock suppliers 9–18 months out. We can hold a date while the couple decides.

Venue-by-venue guides: we've written detailed AV notes for the venues couples ask about most — Villa del Balbianello, Villa Erba, Villa d'Este and Villa Carlotta on Lake Como, plus Lake Maggiore and Lake Garda. Each covers ceremony audio, dinner zoning and the dancefloor rig for that specific venue.

Frequently asked questions

Do you bring your own technician, or is it a drop-off rental?
Our own technician is on-site for the entire day — setup, sound-check, live management of every zone and tear-down. The couple and the planner manage nothing technical. This is the core of how we work for destination weddings.
Is the team English-speaking?
Yes. We communicate in English with planners and couples, reply quickly, and send proposals you can forward to the couple without editing.
How does audio work for an outdoor ceremony by the water?
We use cardioid and supercardioid wireless microphones to reject wind and lake-side ambient noise, with distributed speakers along the seating area so every guest hears the vows clearly — typically 70–78 dB SPL across the guest zone.
Can you work with our live band or our own DJ?
Yes. We integrate a band (monitors, microphones, DI) or a guest DJ into the same Pioneer / Funktion-One rig, so there is no need for a second technical supplier.
How far in advance should we book?
For peak season (May–September) most couples lock suppliers 9–18 months ahead. We can hold a date while the couple decides — reach out as early as you can.
Which venues do you cover?
Lake Como, Lake Maggiore and the wider Milan area — historic villas, lakefront venues and event spaces. See our venue-specific guides for Villa del Balbianello and Villa Erba.
